I've been lately obsessed with my cameras, so the food portion of "food and design" has suffered recently. So here are some food related thoughts.
Loved what Anthony Bourdain said about American cooking on the latest episode of No Reservations. Something to the effect of, "American cooking is whatever somebody in a kitchen in America is cooking right now." Right on.
Since I haven't traveled much lately I've been cooking more. My Mom and I made a Chinese/Korean feast last weekend including fried rice, napa cabbage, my special egg roll recipe and this recipe for Korean Seasoned Fried Chicken out of Gourmet magazine which turned out to be really tasty. We are neither Chinese nor Korean which is again what's great about "American" cooking. I believe Mexican feast is this weekend. I'll try to stop eating long enough to take a picture.
I'm rooting for Anita Lo on Top Chef Masters. She certainly smoked 'em last night.
You know I love a good chart. Here's an interesting one featuring three decades of British grocery preferences. 1985 was a good year for imitation cream, and RIP suet and drippings.
