Color And Pattern

New find around town is Quilt Arts. I love going to fabric stores that specialize in quilting because they sell what they call "fat quarters" of fabric, which makes it easy and cheap to buy samples I like – my recent haul shown above.

Small Bites #7

Fashion illustration by Lovisa Burfitt.
For the first time, MOMA has an online exhibition – Color Chart. Nice for those of us who are not a L train ride away. Really well-done flash site.
Observation: there must be a two fauxhawk minimum every season on Top Chef.

Unexpected Color Palette

Happy Friday
I'm feeling better already. :)
Obsessive Consumption.
The uproar over Pantone's color of the year at NYTimes. Pantone didn't bother to take into account a.) influence of '80's colors in fashion at this moment b.) the fact that blue is generally a favorite color in the US anyway, or c.) that the color kinda sucks.

Color Monkey
OK, there's been a lot of food and not much design so if you're getting a little full, here's a palate cleanser. From time to time I'll post some color studies I've been working on called Color Monkey. This month's is "O.D." I have Pantone equivalents and mini-palettes worked out. If you're interested, leave a comment and I'll post them.
