The Chi-town Download

Ok, finally here's the download from my Chicago trip. All the images (except the Miller's Pub cinemagr.am – click through to the album to see it in action) shot with my trusty Mercury II CX.

Morbid Curiosity: The Richard Harris Collection at the Chicago Cultural Center was a really great show. Skulls and bones and more skulls, oh my. Some really amazing work by Otto Dix, Dana Salvo and James Ensor to name but a few.

Meals taken at Moto and Xoco. Gold Coast Chicago dog at Midway Airport. Runaway favorite course at Moto was gazpacho with grape. The grapes were somehow carbonated and it included the best rabbit I've ever had. Period.

Hot Dog Wishlist

1. NO BRAINER
Dog House, Flowood Way ass out in Castlewoods, but I'll make the trip anyway ASAP. As in tomorrow.

2. NEXT TIME I'M THERE
Dat Dog, New Orleans Did you see the photo? It looks like the happiest place on earth.

3. TRAIN RIDE
Hot Doug's, Chicago OK, so this is on everybody's list but it's "The Sausage Superstore and Encased Meat Emporium." Need I say more.

Hello, Sir, Nice Package

I bought a pack of the Franks Bubble Gum today since we've been on a hot dog bent around here lately. The generic "fruit" flavor tastes kinda like the tiny Chicklets. The bologna looked all too real. I appreciated the Oscar Mayer-inspired red and yellow packaging.

Also, I found a great link to Japanese packaging that's made to mimic natural materials via the Doane Paper blog. Doane Paper actually makes a grid/ruled hybrid writing pad that's pretty nice. I could do without the red line, though.

And a great and useful chart that shows how you can use furoshiki (cloth) to wrap (tsutsumi) gifts or make bags to carry things. It's very traditional Japanese stuff, but really very everyday practical. The two wine bottle wrap is really great.

Hot Diggity Dog

I would so go to Superdawg just for this box. It's 8:30 in the morning, and I'm hungry for a hot dog right now. Maybe a trip to Frank'n'Steak is in order. I miss LeeJay's Hot Dog Express. Mine is not a hot dog town.
