. . . Mr. Loaf will have baked potato night with two fried eggs. I'm back from my work week in Little Rock, Arkansas. Before I left, I found very little food intel in my online research. A couple places we ate at downtown were disappointing. But I would highly recommend both
Ashley's and the Capital Bar & Grill both located in the Capital Hotel. My disclaimer: These people are clients. I generally do not mix business with blogging, but I felt the quality is so good that I should mention it. The thing that really impressed me was how much of their food is made in-house. Certainly, you would assume meats, sauces, and that kind of thing. But almost all the bread, the croissants and pastries, the jams and sorghum butter (Yum!), the pickles, the yoghurt and sausages in the morning, really just about everything. Right down to the chocolates and candies they leave on your pillow if you stay there. Chef Lee Richardson has a commitment to fresh, local food.
On another note, if you're in the Jackson, Mississippi area, it's time again for the
Beth Israel bazaar on March 12, 10:00-6:00. Hopefully, they'll update their web site soon as there isn't any info up yet. I saw a roadside banner advertising it today. They serve homemade hot plate lunches all day and have an auditorium full of homemade desserts for purchase. Kugel and cabbage and matzo, oh my.
