Small Bites #13

OK, I got a Facebook account which has taken up my time lately. But I think the honeymoon phase is over, and I can stop checking it twice a day. So, to get things rolling again, here are some links I've been collecting.

17th century shrapnel-filled grenades, grenade spears, bee-swarm baskets, barbed bombs and vessels for flinging explosive materials over at BibliOdyssey.

Tattoos and laser cut dollar bills from Scott Campbell.

Julien Breton's calligraphy in light.

Bringing back jellies (jello), “They were used as very lavish centerpieces, the way marzipan and sugar were used, but then jelly became corrupted by children’s parties,” are Bompas and Parr. This is one of the funniest articles I've seen in the NYTimes in a while. These guys really don't seem to take themselves too seriously, and their work is actually quite beautiful.

Also, let's bring back handpainted signs.

And found on ffffound.
