Two Great Tastes

A friend at work showed me this tidbit from 1972. It marries the optimistic world view of Charles and Ray Eames with the instant gratification that was Polaroid.

As I watched this piece, I was struck at how the perception of a "perfect" photograph was reflected in those days. It wasn't necessarily about clarity or focus, but more about spontaneity and recording. It kind of reminded me of what I've always loved about photography in the first place. And DAMN that dye transfer process made some gorgeous color!

So as we move forward and mourn the loss of our dear friend Polaroid, let us never forget the sheer joy of being able to hold the past so quickly in our hands.

OH! you should check out the dozens of Eames related clips on youtube, some real beauts.

I love the camera sounds in the movie. I miss that a lot. I saw a documentary on Sundance on Cartier-Bresson over the weekend. Made me want to load up my old Pentax K1000 and take it for a spin.
